WHY JOIN?
Our goal is to fight for what is right in the Wilmington community and the members of the fire service that have sworn to protect it. We work to accomplish these goals by doing the following:
A seat at the table. Our local representatives are our voice with the city and department for topics such as pay and benefits, safe staffing levels, proper working equipment and maintenance, and much more.
Legal representation. If you face discipline, an investigation, or a grievance with the department, our local provides representation and legal support.
Professional development. Gain access to educational scholarships, exclusive grants, and training programs focused on sharpening your skills as a firefighter.

Who can join?
To become an active member of the Local 129, an individual must be a current or past firefighter for the City of Wilmington Fire Department.
