HISTORY OF THE LOCAL 129

Local 129 has proudly represented Wilmington firefighters for more than a century. Originally chartered in the early 1900s, the Local has stood the test of time through periods of growth, change, and modernization. Over the decades, our members have consistently fought for improvements in staffing, training, and equipment that meet the highest safety standards.

Beyond the job, Local 129 has also built a legacy of community involvement, charitable giving, and public engagement. Today, we carry forward that history with the same commitment to excellence and service that has defined us since the beginning.
